The Cincinnati Zoo collected 10,365 cell phones in 2010, which is more than any other Eco-Cell organization has collected in one year. We're still collecting, so spread the word. Our goal for 2011 is to collect 25,000 phones.
The Cincinnati Zoo is offereing rewards for recycling through Cincinnati's Recycle Bank program.

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden teamed up with Cincinnati Bengals Linebacker Dhani Jones and Lebanon Ford to raise money for wildlife. For every tackle Dhani made in the 2010 season $25 went directly to the Zoo, courtesy of Lebanon Ford. Dhani Jones finished the 2010 season with a career best 125 tackles, raising $3,125 for the Zoo’s Saving Species Campaign.
Each year, the Business Courier and U.S. Green Building Council Cincinnati Regional Chapter celebrates the people, companies, and organizations that are demonstrating leadership in sustainable practices at a variety of facilities and projects. The Cincinnati Zoo has been selected as a finalist in the Education and Outreach category for our cell phone recycling efforts.
