Act Wild for Apes

Join the Zoo in celebrating and conserving wildlife during the Act Wild weekends. The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is committed to the conservation of wildlife and wild places. Our special Act Wild conservation weekends are designed to spotlight some very important species and the problems they face, as well as give visitors an opportunity to get involved. Learn about these magnificent animals through family activities, crafts, discovery stations, keeper encounters, and special animal demonstrations.

Apes are our closest living relatives, sharing characteristics such as large brains, opposable thumbs, and living in family groups. Despite their similarities to humans, apes are facing an uncertain future in the wild. Habitat loss and poaching are threatening their survival.

Act Wild for Apes invites visitors to learn about bonobos, gibbons, gorillas, and orangutans through family activities, crafts, discovery stations, keeper encounters, and special animal demonstrations.
The event is free with Zoo admission, and will take place on September 12 & 13, 2009.
