The final Barrows lecture in the 2008 Lecture Series will take place on Thursday, October 2 at 7 p.m. at the Schiff Family Conference Center at the Cintas Center at Xavier University. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will present his inspiring lecture, “Our Environmental Destiny.” The Barrows Lecture Series is sponsored by Mrs. Winifred Barrows, and has brought a slate of esteemed naturalists and scientists to Cincinnati to address wildlife issues and global conservation efforts.
- Kennedy has been selected as the 2008 recipient of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Barrows Wildlife Conservation Award. This award is handed out each year to someone the Cincinnati Zoo recognizes as a leader in the wildlife conservation.
- Kennedy was named one of Time Magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet” for his success in helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River. His group’s achievements helped spawn more than 10 Waterkeeper organizations across the globe.
- WGUC 90.9 is the media sponsor for the 2008 series.
- Admission to the lecture is FREE of charge , but due to the expected high demand tickets are required.
- Tickets may be obtained at the walk-up window at the Cintas Center, open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or by mailing or faxing the Order Form to Cintas. There is a limit of 4 tickets per request.
- Tickets will be available to the general public on Tuesday, September 2, 2008.
