Where do Family programs take place?

  • Most occur in the Harold C. Schott Education Center. Confirmation materials will be received once you have registered.

THE ZOO GOURMET Back by popular demand! food is huge part of celebrating holidays. At the Zoo, our animals feast year-round on carefully planned diets. Join us for holiday food frenzy and learn how we feed thousands of animals every day. Through a game, close encounters, and a behind the scenes tour of the commissary, find out why different animals eat different foods and how the Zoo manages its menu. Register Online November 1, 15, 22, December 6, 13, or 20: 10-11:30am or 1-2:30pm
MANY, MANY MOONS AGO Join us for an afternoon of traditional tales charismatically presented by local Native American storyteller, Fred Shaw. The entire family will enjoy stories of the animals that live around us such as opossums, turtles, and hawks and visits from several Zoo animals. Register Online November 8: 1-2:30pm

CHILLING OUT

Want to know why polar bears and penguins are some of the "coolest" animals at the Zoo? Well, this program is for you! We'll play, investigate, and learn together as we get a sneak peek at the future penguin and polar bear Wild Research stations at the Zoo. Come and try out all of the fun and interactive activities before they go public as we learn about the special adaptation that allow these animals to feel right at home in a winter wonderland. Zoo Yoga for 4-7 Year Olds

Topic Description Dates COST
ZOO YOGA Roar like a tiger. Fly like a bird. Move as slowly as a sloth. Explore the world of animals and plants in a fun new way - through yoga! This fun and interactive program is a beginner/ mid-level class for you child and can serve as a great foundation for developing an interest in wildlife and fitness that can last a lifetime. Parents are welcome to participate with their children. Afterward, explore the Zoo on your own or together with others from the class. Yoga mats are provided. Please bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothing. Register Online
